It's a brutal but honest signal: if you're an IT person without AI skills in 2026, you're holding a depreciating asset. Coder agents are being deployed on self-hosted infrastructure, not waiting for hosted APIs. The research shows transformers are cheaper than RNNs at scale, but only if you know how to use them. The coding layer—the glue between models and products—is where the real work is happening.
Digg relaunching as an AI news aggregator is either brilliant or a sign that the category is completely saturated. Probably both. What's clear: the infrastructure for AI news has gotten so dense (AWS, Claude, embeddings, agents) that anyone can build a news app now. The question is whether anyone should. That's the maturity test we're in right now.
